The Order of Dawn
Those who waited on their feet
A military and religious order of knights, bound to the Church of the Zenith and seated in Auren. Its oaths are sworn in the Meridian Hall, and its squires sleep in the old wing of the Cloister. In the year 1000 it counted some seven hundred sworn knights, three thousand spears and about sixty squires, under Commander Aelis. Its symbols are gold shields, phoenixes and lions.
The Order was born of a single sentence: the light sleeps, and it will wake. For a thousand years of still sky the knights swore to serve something no one had ever seen: “the oath to serve a promise”. It was never an army that formed to fight an enemy, but a community of waiting that, when the waiting ended, knew no other way to be than to go on serving with the same intensity.
After the Breaking the shadow acquired an address, the Moon and the Court of Night, and the Order marched out to Purify the Twilight Line. Its virtues are light, oath and protection. Its flaw is absolute certainty.
