The Pilgrim, the Chronicler
Orin is thirty. Until 990 he was a Clockmaker’s apprentice; since then he has lived in a house of stone and turf in the south hills of the Line, and writes the Chronicles that tell Book I. His parents died in 981 and he has no living relatives: the family he has is the tower.
He finds Teo and Nyra in the Crater Field at dawn on day 27 and brings them to Halvar’s Tower. On the Full Night he turns the Reverse. At the end of the book he is writing Chronicle III, and about to leave for the Vale of Echoes with Teo and Nyra.
